Celeste Hunt Fitness Competitor from Atlanta, Georgia

I am way overdo from posting these images but I hope they will serve as an fitness inspiration for viewers. The featured person in this post is Celeste Hunt who is a 40 year old proud mother. The images you see were taken summer 2015 just before she won two trophies is a recent competition. She looked more defined afterwards with definition because she was in contest shape which meant she lost some additional fat to show more muscles. I am glad to present the images of her before contest time as you would normally see her in everyday situations still well toned with muscle but not in true contest shape. She had a beautiful personality and was fun to photograph. I also photographed some images with her son which made both of them look like the dynamic duo.

I decided on two locations which were all outdoors for the photography sessions. I wanted to display people in natural environments versus the typical gym routine look. We began in the morning in the downtown area of Hapeville, Georgia a small town located near the Hartsfield-Jackson airport which is just south of Atlanta, Georgia. You can see the train tracks in the middle of the downtown area which had tall crosswalks. It was challenge early to photograph with the sun reflecting the colors from the sportswear on their bodies. It was also necessary to position them in areas away from the bright sunlight to avoid eye blinks. We got it done. In one instances, the images displayed them doing push ups on the steps.

The next photography location took about twenty minutes of travel time but you will see it was worth the trip. We traveled to South Atlanta and arrived to see metal statues by Charlie Smith who created them for his trip to the Burning Man in the desert of Arizona which is an annual nationally known event. Before we photographed on and around the metal statues, Celeste saw piles of broken bricks near the area just sitting there to be used as a background. Celeste and son made the climb to the top for photography images.

Finally, we make it over to the metal artwork. The bronze brownish colors looked very rustic which made an excellent contrast against their blue clothing. Photographing two locations in one day with two clothes changes were accomplished. The images serve the purpose of promoting fitness. We hope you will visit us at E37 Photography website to see the other participants in the Fitness with a Flair section.

Atlanta Carnival 2015 Parade Decatur Georgia May 23, 2015 Saturday

Before writing this blog page, the photographer discovered that it is a good thing to post events  on a timely basis. He tried to find a post on the timeline of blog story for a body painter. He could not find the right post. This lesson served as a reminder to  current record dates and write more often about each key photography event. This writing process does take time but it is necessary to keep good records of flowing events and reminder to document important dates.

This blog displays very colorful images of mostly African American celebrating their Caribbean Carnival on the streets of Decatur which is a suburb city of Atlanta. The photographer decided to photograph the Decatur event for the first time. He had planned to photograph the usual Caribbean Carnival festival in Atlanta. From learning only a week early that a new group started another festival association in the Decatur. A decision was made to try a this new event. The group appeared younger compared to the Atlanta Carnival group. Both events were held on the same Saturday of Memorial weekend. This caused much confusion on deciding where to attend. After reviewing the facts of the day, the Atlanta Carnival had a smaller parade members. The Decatur parade  members appeared much larger with many varieties of colorful costumes. Loud music trucks fill the air with  vibrant  vibrant music. The party began in the parking lot before the members feet touched the parade street that started from Covington Highway and ended at Kensington Marta Station for the festival location. From viewing the stage and ground areas on the Internet, the grounds appeared smaller compared to location in Atlanta. The Atlanta Carnival reached large numbers based on viewing the posted images on the Internet. The Atlanta group had a least three live radio stations broadcasting on remote. The Decatur group had more participants in the parade. The conclusion is that some of the Decatur people may have left to attend the Atlanta festival to pack the  the Fourth Ward District festival setting. Well, now let's show the parade images.  More than 450 images were posted for your viewing.

Visit E37 Photography Website to view more images of the parade

The church parking space and other neighbor businesses provided ample space to park. Trying to decide how to photograph the people to eliminate the shadow on the faces took a some minutes to figure out what were the best setting.Using a flash would fill in the shadows. The ladies whore elaborate head pieces that cast shadows. After a few test,  the camera setting were set without the use of flash aperture setting were open larger than normal to give the faces more light at the risk of create more highlight in the background.

Since there were many images photographed, we will show a part two. More scenes will be revealed from the street. You see a lot of partying in all areas of the street. Just follow the large music truck.

Naturals in the Park in Stone Mountain at Tupac Amaru Shakur Center of Art Center.

Have you ever heard Dr. Martin Luther King used the words Stone Mountain in his famous I Have A Dream Speech? E37 Photography traveled to this city to photograph Naturals in the Park Festival. The naturals refer to people who wear their hair without use of chemicals. Most of the attendees were afro-american females. They congregated to promote natural hair and healthy lifestyles. The setting was located at the Tupac Shakur Center. Mr. Shakur, a famous entertainer, appeared in several movies and many videos. He died early from a gun attack in a car. The park and museum building is a tribute to him. In the park, you can see a large statue of him with a pool in the front of him.Trees and pathways surround the park.

Fortunately, it did not rain but the temperature heated to the 90 degree temperatures. The heat became a frequent topic of the event but it did not deter the festival activities. The stage set up was not covered so the performer performed in the sun. As one of the photographer for the event, he made constant camera adjustments which were necessary to photograph well exposed images. The tents provided shade along with the tree shade where adjustments were necessary. The elements were completely different when photographed in the open sun. The people were patient with the photographer to make adjustment. The photographer wanted to get the correct exposure in camera versus waiting to make color adjustments in post computer work. Over 300 images were selected and sent to the event organizer and participants at the event which consist of venders, performers, festival works and attendees. Overall, the event was fun and colorful. No food sampled but the aroma was inviting. One of the favorite vendors station around the stations sold lemonade blended with fresh green basil. You can see many the clear plastic green cups. During the event, this photographer purchased one and had desire for more. The festival staff were cordial. They gave the photographer a t-shirt, media pass and bottle of cold water.

The photograph could not help but take some close up images of the hairstyles. The curly hairstyles had many different styles. Vendors sold hair product for hair and face. Many t-shirt were available. Music played throughout the event. Entertainers performed on stage singing and dancing. Most of the speakers had a good sense of humor but at times spoke on the serious side about health. Children played at a station in the rear of the park. Dance exercise classes were provide and lectures on health and hair topic were presented in different areas of the park. It was time well spent in the open air. The program started from 11am to 7pm.  After the last entertainment act, the photographer packed his bag and left to begin work on the images.

Body Painting in Atlanta, Ga. Photography by E37 Photography Ralph E. Williams

This is model Sammy Ro posing in an Atlanta venue called the Museum Bar. This is a rare opportunity for the photographer to photograph the body painted subjects. The painting took awhile before she showcased her work in front of guest who were in town for The Atlanta Caribbean Festival. Image was actually photographed on the floor where the blue lights glowed on the bottom of the bar. The blue color added a nice contrast to the colorful paintings on her body.
