Atlanta Carnival 2015 Parade Decatur Georgia May 23, 2015 Saturday

Before writing this blog page, the photographer discovered that it is a good thing to post events  on a timely basis. He tried to find a post on the timeline of blog story for a body painter. He could not find the right post. This lesson served as a reminder to  current record dates and write more often about each key photography event. This writing process does take time but it is necessary to keep good records of flowing events and reminder to document important dates.

This blog displays very colorful images of mostly African American celebrating their Caribbean Carnival on the streets of Decatur which is a suburb city of Atlanta. The photographer decided to photograph the Decatur event for the first time. He had planned to photograph the usual Caribbean Carnival festival in Atlanta. From learning only a week early that a new group started another festival association in the Decatur. A decision was made to try a this new event. The group appeared younger compared to the Atlanta Carnival group. Both events were held on the same Saturday of Memorial weekend. This caused much confusion on deciding where to attend. After reviewing the facts of the day, the Atlanta Carnival had a smaller parade members. The Decatur parade  members appeared much larger with many varieties of colorful costumes. Loud music trucks fill the air with  vibrant  vibrant music. The party began in the parking lot before the members feet touched the parade street that started from Covington Highway and ended at Kensington Marta Station for the festival location. From viewing the stage and ground areas on the Internet, the grounds appeared smaller compared to location in Atlanta. The Atlanta Carnival reached large numbers based on viewing the posted images on the Internet. The Atlanta group had a least three live radio stations broadcasting on remote. The Decatur group had more participants in the parade. The conclusion is that some of the Decatur people may have left to attend the Atlanta festival to pack the  the Fourth Ward District festival setting. Well, now let's show the parade images.  More than 450 images were posted for your viewing.

Visit E37 Photography Website to view more images of the parade

The church parking space and other neighbor businesses provided ample space to park. Trying to decide how to photograph the people to eliminate the shadow on the faces took a some minutes to figure out what were the best setting.Using a flash would fill in the shadows. The ladies whore elaborate head pieces that cast shadows. After a few test,  the camera setting were set without the use of flash aperture setting were open larger than normal to give the faces more light at the risk of create more highlight in the background.

Since there were many images photographed, we will show a part two. More scenes will be revealed from the street. You see a lot of partying in all areas of the street. Just follow the large music truck.

Dragon Con Parade 2014 downtown Atlanta 2014

I recently attended the Dragon Con parade in downtown Atlanta. I arrived about 9am before the start time at 10am. I was shocked at the huge number of people already in position to watch the parade. I walked and walked and eventually compromised with a spot where I stood behind four rows of people.  The people sitting were ok but I expected to stand the duration of the parade. The couple standing in front of me meant I would have to aim my camera between their heads. I got a big break. The couple decided to move which allowed me a better view. My main concern was the direction of sunlight in front of me. I knew I would have to aim away to prevent camera glare. I stood in the area of the parade where it was close to the end route. When the people in the parade finally arrived the fun began. I knew I would see many colorful elements from the character clothes, cars, makeup, etc. In case you did not know, Dragon Con is an annual event held in a large Atlanta hotel where actors, comic book collectors, costume companies, film makers, etc. meet to celebrate the industry. I made a link of over 200 images of the parade. You can view from the Flickr link on this page. I will post a few here a samples.

The models below were from the collection of Gina Hadley, fashion designer. Her company is name Avantoooh. Her clothes varied in colors and designs. Princess Canty and her team designed the hairstyles that routinely seen at the Bronner Brothers hair shows. Patrice Story and Tatiana Wilson contributed to the makeup. The models were part of nine  models in her group that walked the runway at the Taste of Runway Atl which was held in the World Congress Center in the downtown area of Atlanta, Georgia. Later, you will see more of this group and others models on the runway stage. This set of models walked the runway last in the evening. You will see other groups in the next blog post from the end of the program to the beginning. The event mixed with food, fashion and entertainment.  Comedian Rodney Perry performed on stage. The host and hostess kept the audience interested between fashion breaks. The event also housed different vendors with variety of products for health and beauty, etc. The other major focus of this was the food. Some of the top chefs were in the room. The audiences were able to sample some of their delicious food while watching the performances.

Some people may have inadvertently been left out of the image posting from the Taste of the Runway Atlanta. I am sure you all realize that a fashion show of that length involved many people such as models, fashion designers,MUAs, etc. I wish to thank all who identified themselves and others when images were posted. This became a reality due to their proactive interest. If you have friended me and/or liked E37 Photography. Atlanta Caribbean Carnival May 25, 2013 Memorial E37 Photography

Dwight Eubanks a very popular Atlanta socialite leads off the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Parade

The lovely Ms. Universe Bahamas rides the parade route with a beautiful smile

This lady was turning and turning with amazing energy. She had to be in great shape to complete the parade route. I hope they gave her water on the way. What would she do if she had to go to the restroom?

Love the red and aqua color in this group. They were all so colorful.

The gold man was throwing powder on everyone. Look at this lady reaction!

The gold man was talking and interacting with everyone. Can you imagine this lady traveled the parade route with the baby carriage.

Plenty of water and energy needed to last this parade route

The Gold Man was my favorite in the parade. He walked up to me for a closeuo

The Caribbean folk were everywhere in the street running along side of vehicles

This group wore my favorite color combination
